Recap For The GFFA Fest and Public Speaking For The First Time as a Teen

This past weekend, 3/14/15, I got the opportunity to speak at the GFFA Fest in Tampa Florida. This was my first time public speaking in front of a large group of people but I was super excited to share my advice as a teenager on living gluten-free. Not only was I able to speak to a group of people 2 days in a row, but I also got to manage my own GlutenAway booth again while I was there! I had a great time being able to see old friends, meet new ones, and get a whole new experience in the public speaking area. Oh, and I can't forget the new gluten-free products I found, too. Check out my full wrap of of the GFFA Fest, below!

My presentation on Being Socially Gluten Free from a Teens Perspective:

Out of all the things I've done so far, public speaking is one I had not taken on yet. I was a little nervous to do it for the first time but surprisingly, it all came pretty easily once I got talking! I spoke on being gluten-free as a teen and offered my perspective on how to deal with social situations, friends, and family. I was very excited to be presenting with some other amazing people including, Cindy Gordon, Jules Shepard, Pam Jordan, and Amy Macklin. This might be something I continue to do in the future as I get older but it was definitely something I enjoyed doing at the GFFA Fest for the first time.

Amazing gluten-free products I tried:
I usually don't spend much time trying actual products at the show (even though I need to), but this time around I made sure to try some products that caught my attention.

Here's 4 things you need to know!

#1. Flour N' Spice makes some of the best Gluten-free, Vegan treats I've ever tried and they ship nationwide! Go check them out!

#2. Toufayan's new Gluten-Free Pita Chips are ridiculously amazing. They taste like the real thing and all the flavors are to die for. More about Toufayan's products!

#3. DeLand makes some awesome gluten-free and dairy free brownies! (I was lucky enough to get a whole pan) They're now one of my favorite gluten-free companies! More from DeLand Bakery!

#4. Marilyn's Gluten Free Gourmet has the best Artisan Flatbread Crackers I've ever tried. I think they are perfect for humus and you'd never know it's gluten-free! More from Marilyn's Gluten Free Gourmet!

The GlutenAway booth:

At our booth, I got to represent 3 awesome gluten-free companies. ContentChecked, Living Now, and Harvest Snap. Everyone loved all the samples we gave away as well as learning about the awesome app from ContentChecked! It was great to meet so many new people at my booth as always and I definitely plan to have more booths at gluten-free expos in the future.

I enjoyed meeting everyone who was there and look forward to being apart of a few more expos this year!

  1. Thank you so much for this post. Living in Central Louisiana, I don't think I've ever seen anything like this here. Our son (26) is a PICKY eater. Some things that are gluten free seem to make him sick after his second or third time eating them. It is frustrating! But I will check out all of these links, and probably order a few for him to try.
    Thank you again, Taylor.
