Living a healthy lifestyle can be difficult but adding in a gluten restriction can make coming up with appetizing meals seem impossible. By keeping a few key healthy foods stocked in your fridge you can relieve yourself the stress of coming up with a new meal everyday. Just mix these healthy foods into creative plates and you’ll feel energized and healthy all week long.

Have you ever been picked on for being gluten-free? Gotten an insensitive comment from someone saying, "oh, that must really suck you can't eat gluten." As teenagers, we see bullying almost every day. We grow up in a world where food allergies are becoming more and more prominent, yet some of us are still not taken seriously. I, myself, was never really bullied much as a kid. I grew up having a pretty normal life and always faced every situation with positivity. But when I got diagnosed with Celiac Disease at age 13, that started to change. People saw it as something that made made me different and saw it as something to pick on me about. I didn't show them that it bothered me, I didn't give them a reason to continue bullying me because fortunately enough, I enjoyed eating gluten-free. As a young teenager at the time, I thought high school would be the end of it. I assumed that only kids picked on each because surely a grown adult couldn't be immature enough to bully one another over food. But guess what? I was wrong.
For a while I've been giving a lot of advice as a teen about living gluten-free. By no means am I an expert or someone who's certified in anything, but I've always tried my best to give the best advice from my experiences. One person that has a lot of experience in this area would be Rachel Begun. She has over 14 years of nutritional experience in the gluten-free world and you may have seen her name around before too. I'm very excited to share this post with you so check out these great tips from Rachel Began for living gluten-free!

My name is Isabel, and I'm a teenager who enjoys paying lacrosse, volunteering at a local horse barn, and working backstage for my school's drama productions. I have been cooking practically my whole life, "helping" my mom in the kitchen. I love to cook because it is fun to share my creations with family and friends, and there are so many amazing things to make out there! I really enjoy trying new recipes, especially the zany ones. I started to experiment with gluten-free recipes and substitutions so my siblings and I can enjoy great meals with my mom (who is gluten-free). The fun thing about working without gluten is that it makes you think creatively to find ways to adapt recipes and make your own. I was making gluten-free pumpkin bread with my mom when we decided to try adding chocolate chips and making muffins out of one of our favorite family recipes. We love what happened, and I hope you do too!
Greetings from another gluten free blogger! My name is Kristen Taylor and I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2007. Sometimes it is hard to believe it has only been 6 years on a gluten free diet because I can’t imagine my life any other way. On the other hand, I remember the day I was diagnosed like it was yesterday. I was a sophomore in college at the University of North Carolina where I was playing lacrosse for both UNC and the USA team. I was ecstatic to be back at school for the fall semester and it seemed like everything was falling into place perfectly. That was until just getting out of bed became hard. I was exhausted, losing weight, nauseous, had painful headaches all day long, and began blacking out up to 15 times/day. What on earth was going on???

A significant source of vitamins A and C, pumpkin is one food that has a multitude of uses. Pumpkins, which are a form of squash, are versatile in flavor, allowing for their use in savory meals as well as sweet snacks. They are also useful outside of the kitchen. With the Fall season upon us, pumpkins are turning up just about everywhere you look.  Pumpkins are currently in large supply so there should be no shortage of these naturally gluten-free vegetables available to put to good use. Here are five creative ways in which you can use pumpkins.
Guest Blogger Brian Klemm of This Gluten Free Life

Hi everyone!
First off, I want to thank Taylor for giving me the opportunity to guest post on his site. I think what he is doing with GlutenAway is fantastic for the community and will hopefully influence more gluten free teenagers to blog about their journeys as well. My name is Brian Klemm and I run a gluten free website, This Gluten Free Life. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to update it as much as I would like lately, but I hope to post more in the near future.

The skin is the body's largest organ. It can also tell the world whether or not you are healthy. The condition of your skin is a reflection of your diet and lifestyle. Topical creams and gels can mask skin problems or aid in healing them. However, if you want smooth, supple, healthy skin you have to eat right, get regular exercise and adequate sleep. Blood is always coursing through the skin. If you have nutrient rich blood that does not contain a lot of toxins, it will make your skin clean and clear. On the other hand if you eat junk food or do not give your body the nutrition it needs to neutralize and eliminate toxins, you’re further damaging your skin.
When I was younger and could eat gluten, Rice Crispies were always one of my favorite treats. I know they weren't the healthiest things in the world but I did know they tasted amazing! Even now it's something I still crave but with the added gluten and sugar, I sadly could never have it. That was until Shirley Plant gave me this awesome gluten-free recipe to make these Rice Crispies. They are also dairy and sugar free so that makes it pretty healthy too! I'm very happy to be able to share this gluten-free recipe with you from Shirley Plant and I hope it's something you can enjoy! I plan on making these often since it's such an easy recipe to make that can finally fulfill my rice crispy cravings too.

Free of dairy, wheat, yeast, eggs, corn, sugar, soy, nightshades and gluten!
Hey everyone! My name is Allie (gfreebennie), and I am a first year student studying Spanish, French, and Secondary Education at the College of St. Benedict/St. John’s University (also known as St. Ben’s/St. John’s) in central Minnesota. I grew up in Eden Prairie, MN and have been participating in sports my entire life. From softball and soccer until 8th grade, to cross country running, Nordic skiing, and track and field in high school, being active has been a huge part of my life. Being an athlete, fueling my body has also been a big part of my life, especially carbo-loading.  I cannot even count the number of pasta feeds and ice cream socials I have attended throughout my life.  My entire life I have loved food, but my body has not always loved food.  I can remember eating boxes upon boxes of cereal as a little kid, and my mom had to hide the “sugared cereal” (Fruity Loops were my favorite) so that I was only able to eat it as a Saturday morning treat.  Up until high school, pasta, especially anything of the fettuccini type, was my favorite food, in addition to buttery garlic bread. Despite these somewhat unhealthy foods being my favorites, my parents raised me to eat fairly healthy, and I have always loved fruits and veggies in general.
I’m so happy to be here writing a guest post for my friend, Taylor! Not sure if you've read the wonderful and informative post he wrote for me a little while ago, Tips for Parenting a Child with Celiac Disease from the perspective of a 15-year-old. Taylor and I met on-line shortly after we both began our blogs. I often tell him how much he helps me as well as so many other parents think about celiac disease through our children's eyes. I always love to read his posts because I feel the perspective he offers is incredible!

I don't know where many of you live but where I'm living here in Florida, it's already starting to feel like summer. Finally right? With all the things that come with summer, one of my favorite things is the cold new treats I get to make that I normally wouldn't in the winter. So when I got this awesome Gluten-free Ice Cream Sandwich recipe brought to me by My Natural Market, I was pretty excited! Especially with Summer around the corner and for me when it's already here. This is an awesome ice-cream sandwich recipe everyone would enjoy that can be both gluten and dairy free!
Having guest bloggers is one of the many things I want to add to my blog while starting a new year. So I'm very happy to have Brian, from Glutenlibre.com to be my very first. Brian and his wife Kathleen are two people that my mom and I both have gotten the pleasure of connecting with online and are people we have a very good connection with today. Glutenlibre.com is a unique website that is great for anyone with celiac disease or on a gluten-free diet. In this post Brian will be giving tips and ideas to help make school lunches easier for your kids while also discussing the many problems and difficulties kids with food allergies face today when it comes to schools. But first, here is their story about the journey of discovering that their son Kai has Celiac Disease. My mom and I both really relate to this story and I'm sure it is something you will all appreciate.
